Last year, Braze joined the Pledge 1% movement, commiting to disburse 1% of our outstanding equity over a 10 year period to support charitable organizations. This year, with the first such tranche now available for charitable use by our donor advised fund (DAF) at Tides Foundation, we are pleased to announce the Braze for Social Impact Fund. Through this fund, we look forward to amplifying our Social Impact goals, with a specific focus around community, education, and sustainability. Below, we’ve outlined the first of many programs through which Braze employees and the Social Impact team will be directing funds in support of our communities. We are excited to be a part of Pledge 1%’s thriving community of purpose-driven companies.
In May 2022, we announced that we would be directing the first $100,000 of our DAF to three non-profits selected by Braze employees. For us, it’s important that employees feel involved in corporate social impact initiatives. The organizations selected tackle some of the world’s toughest issues including climate change, global hunger, and LGBTQIA+ equality.
Additionally, we recently launched our Employee Resource Group (ERG) Grant Program. ERGs are voluntary, employee-led groups brought together by a common interest, membership in a protected class, or shared experience. Through this program, each ERG had the opportunity to direct up to $30,000, a total of $250,000, from our DAF to nonprofit organizations aligned with their missions. These nonprofit organizations address challenges around, among other things, addiction and depression, women’s equality in the workplace, and global hunger. For Giving Tuesday, we will have those same ERG-selected nonprofits listed as funds in BrightFunds to engage a broader employee base & encourage additional donations (and use of match benefit).
As we head into another holiday season, we are proud of the efforts we have made to make a difference in the lives of our communities and communities that are underrepresented and underserved. However, we also recognized that there are still significant global and local challenges that we need to address. At Braze, we are committed to driving progress to creating a more sustainable, equitable world.
