At Braze, community engagement isn’t a one-time initiative, it’s a cornerstone of our culture that we are incredibly proud to see the impact of grow year over year.

In early June, 691 Braze employees across 11 countries participated in our fifth annual Volunteer Week, a global effort that empowers employees to step away from their daily work and give back to the communities where they live and work. Together, we dedicated over 1,500 volunteer hours to support 38 nonprofit organizations around the world.

From hunger relief and youth mentorship to community clean-ups and accessibility advocacy, our teams partnered with local nonprofits to tackle urgent challenges and strengthen the fabric of our communities.

Read on to learn more about the organizations we supported and how Braze employees showed up to make a difference.

Hunger relief

Combatting food insecurity takes a consistent, community approach, and we’re proud to support the organizations leading this vital work. In 12 cities across six countries, Braze volunteers teamed up with 15 nonprofit partners to increase access to nutritious food for individuals and families in need.

Our employees joined Blanchet House (Portland), Be Enriched and Feast With Us (London), Bowery Mission and EVLoves (New York), Caritas of Austin (Austin), Common Pantry (Chicago), Empowering the Masses (Dallas), HOPE (Atlanta) and Our Big Kitchen (Sydney) to prepare and serve food to those in need.

In Berlin, Paris, and Toronto, volunteers collaborated with Berliner Tafel, Secours Populaire, and Second Harvest to collect and sort surplus food for distribution, an initiative that addresses both food waste and hunger so that vital resources reach those in need.

"With 46.5% of all food in Canada wasted every year, we rely on strong partnerships to turn that waste into nourishment. Volunteers like those from Braze play a vital role not just by lending their time, but by demonstrating what’s possible when purpose-driven companies step up. Their hands-on support, combined with corporate giving, helps us scale our impact by rescuing food, reducing waste, and feeding communities across the country!"

Community clean-ups

From parks to urban farms, Braze volunteers came together to care for public spaces that build community and support environmental health. In partnership with local organizations across the US and around the world, teams cleared litter, maintained trails, conducted gardening maintenance, and supported urban agriculture efforts.

In the US, volunteers contributed their time with Alliance for the Great Lakes (Chicago), Durham Parks Foundation (Durham), El Buen Samaritano (Austin), Fort Greene Park Conservancy and Sanitation Foundation (New York City), Friends of the Urban Forest (San Francisco), The Trail Conservancy (Austin), and TreePeople (Los Angeles).

Globally, employees supported Global Generation and Hackney City Farms (London), and Hands on Tokyo (Tokyo), reinforcing our shared responsibility to protect and enhance the environments we all depend on.

Youth development

Supporting young people through mentorship and education is essential to building stronger communities. During Volunteer Week, Braze employees contributed to youth development efforts both in person and virtually, helping expand access and opportunity for the next generation.

Volunteers partnered with Asociatia Casa Buna (Bucharest), Muda Berdaya Bersama Foundation (Jakarta), and Project the Way (São Paulo) to support school-aged children in extracurricular activities that promote physical activity and positive social interaction.

Virtually, volunteers lent their skills in partnership with Project Invent and SuitUp, to coach students through mock interviews and help them develop entrepreneurial skills, increasing career readiness for all students.

Community health and wellbeing

Braze volunteers also dedicated their time to health and wellness initiatives, partnering with organizations that support people of all ages and abilities. From adaptive design to family medical care, these efforts helped expand access to essential services and ease the burden on individuals and families in need.

In New York City, employees worked with the Adaptive Design Association to build custom assistive tools for children with disabilities and with Ronald McDonald House Charities of New York to provide meals to families navigating serious medical challenges. In London, volunteers partnered with Cosmic, an organization caring for babies and children in intensive care and their families.

In Boston, teams supported Cradles to Crayons by distributing essential supplies to children experiencing poverty. In San Francisco, they assisted the St. Anthony Foundation in supporting a community farmer’s market that helps with access to nutritious food. In Singapore, volunteers joined TOUCH Community Services to help foster social connection and engagement among the elderly.

Additionally, remote volunteers offered real-time support through Be My Eyes, a digital platform that connects sighted individuals with blind and low-vision users.

"Volunteering with the Adaptive Design Association was incredibly meaningful. We got to build adaptive tools that will help make everyday devices more accessible for kids with disabilities and knowing our work could directly support a child’s comfort or independence made it all the more powerful. The team there was amazing, and it was a great reminder of how hands-on service can create real, lasting impact. Plus it was so much fun!”
